WALK WITH LUTHER; HEART & SOLE

This year, Lutherans all over the world are celebrating the 500th anniversary of the Reformation.  A few years prior to Luther posting the 95 theses on the Castle Church in Wittenberg, Luther was appointed by his order to journey on foot from Erfurt, Germany to Rome to represent them to voice differing opinions with the church.  This pilgrimage has been called “The Journey of 1,000 Miles”.  In honor of Martin Luther, we would like to “get moving” at Resurrection as well.  We may not be able to individually travel 1,000 miles, but together we will embark in Heart & Sole!

Heart & Sole is an 8-week physical activity program that allows you to track your physical activity minutes, and be eligible for incentives as well.  Beginning the first part of September, the Health Ministry Team will help you sign up electronically and provide you program details.  The program will start on Sunday, September 24th and finish up on Saturday, November 18th.  Each week you will be sent an email with a health tip, and a link to a very brief survey to report weekly minutes for you and other members of your family.  At the end of the 8-week program, you will also be asked to complete a short post-program evaluation.

Now for the fun part!  Every participant who reports physical activity minutes at least 6 out of the 8 weeks of the program will receive a Heart & Sole t-shirt.  Additionally, one person from our congregation who turns in activity minutes at least 6 out of the 8 weeks of the program and completes the post-program eval will win a FitBit activity tracker.  Finally, one lucky person out of all the participating congregations who turns in activity minutes at least 6 out of the 8 weeks of the program and completes the post-program eval will win a family zoo pass to Henry Doorly Zoo, which is good for 1 year!

So, watch for representatives of your Health Ministry Team beginning in early September to help you sign up for this great program that will help us get healthier together!  Now, let’s get moving!
