For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat. I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me. – Matthew 25:35-36 (NIV)
RELC’s Local & World Service Team extends Christian compassion and help to the ill, the elderly, the homeless, the underprivileged, the imprisoned, and to all in need of aid in body or soul, throughout our local, national and world communities.
“We try to reach out to others. Small differences mean something. We serve meals at the Ronald McDonald House monthly, hold food drives and deliver to local pantries. We also support the Prison Ministry Program, with Pastor Ron conducting a monthly service at the Nebraska Penitentiary,” notes team co-chair Shelley Schram.
Internationally, RELC’s Local & World Service Team provides money and prayer to our sister Congregation in Tanzania.

The Local & World Service Team bakes meals for families with new babies, coordinates a Sunday school supply drive to stock classrooms, provide emergency food & lodging for the down-trodden and families with fire-ravaged homes. The team actively promotes the Gretna Neighbors Food Pantry, which is housed in RELC’s basement.
In early 2014, the team welcomed an FBI investigator who spoke about an international humantrafficking problem.
“All our efforts are rewarding to reach out and improve the world in some small way. I love seeing what people together can do. I wish more people would realize the positive energy that people get from helping others. We can do more,” said Schram.
