Sunday School Childrens’ Christmas Program
OWLS Christmas Party
November brought our annual Thanksgiving/Stewardship Sunday and another joint Thanksgiving Eve Service with Gretna United Methodist Church. The last Wednesday evening in November we decorated and lit the beautiful spruce tree south of the church and held our Annual Advent Fair as we prepared for the celebration of our Savior’s birth.
Life at Resurrection shifted into full gear in October with small groups forming, including the Fermentation Group, Walking Group and the OWLS (Over 55). Trunk or Treat was held for the young and young-at-heart, drawing families from the congregation and the community. The 500th Anniversary of the Reformation celebration at the end of October included a “Walk with Luther; ‘Heart and Sole'”, remembering Luther’s journey through Germany. The Fermentation Group’s first project was to brew beer using “Kate’s Recipe” as it was dubbed. The celebration culminated in our first Oktoberfest, featuring a Polka Service and a potluck meal of German foods with brats and smoked brisket. A Ministry Fair was held showcasing our many service teams and the Youth Underground held a “Labor Auction” with attendees bidding on the youth for help with projects.
